Latest Update:

UPDATE (8/7/08)

We have now put together our  concept and treatment and are currently working on a few of the details (setting up times for interviews and traveling arrangements.)  We have been blessed to be able to obtain a few amazing businesses that are going to help out with donating to the film.

UPDATE (7/1/08)

We are currently in our fundraising and planning stages.  We recently got word that we have housing from a few different people and are very grateful of that, but are still looking for contacts and stories...well, and are still a few dollars away from our goal, but excited as ever!  I am meeting with Patti Brown this week to talk over a few details to better prepare ourselves for the next month or so ahead.

UPDATE (6/12/08):

We have got word from a few contacts in Mississippi that there are stories a plenty, and they are excited for us to come.  We are currently researching places to stay while we are there and developing our timeline.  If you noticed a decrease in team members you are not just seeing things.  I decided that the trip and experience would be better with the fewest numbers, so it will be Nate and I traveling, one will have a still camera and the other a HDV video camera.  We are excited and ready!

In the summer of 2006, Still Picking Up the Piece’s was filmed by Patti Brown, a Red Cross Volunteer, and edited by myself Shaun Boyte and sent out on DVD.  It was a short 20 minute documentary that included incredible interviews from survivors of Hurricane Katrina.  It also showed the vast amount of damage still left to clean up and showed how desperate and thankful the citizens of the Gulf were of volunteers.  When we sent out the 100 copies across the nation, we got an unbelievable response and word that it had encouraged dozens of groups to go help out.  But two years later, the people from the documentary are seeking help once more.

So this time I wanted to take on the story myself and I will be bringing my great friend and talented camera operator Nate Lewis with me.  We will be going to the Gulf in the first weeks of September to chase today’s story and help spread the word of what is currently happening that isn’t exposed by your local news.  The truth unscripted and real.

What do we need?

We need people who are passionate about helping people to join in our effort.

How can you help?

You can help by emailing us about things you know about in the Gulf of Mississippi.  If there is a story you know that you believe is worthy of telling on a television screen, we want to hear it or know about it so that we can do research on it, capture it, and tell it to the world.  You are the key to this film’s success, and the stories you tell us or lead us too will make this project go round.

Don’t know any stories?

You can also help by donating bucks to our fund.  With gas prices only going up and our college loans gaining we cannot afford to pay for this ourselves.  So we have put a budget on this project of a few thousand dollars and are asking people to be part of this with us.  This story is helping the victims of the Hurricane, your donations are going directly to the aid of the victims in form of allowing their voices to be heard.  Any money we obtain that exceeds our budget will go directly to the hurricane relief fund and to the victims.

Thank you for taking time and energy to be a part of continuing these incredible stories.
